The small honeycomb vase was originally made by bees in the same way as all Libertiny’s collaborations with bee colonies. In the tradition of the “lost wax casting” method the fragile wax sculpture was transformed into silver loosing some definition and details along the way. In the process, the original beeswax sculpture melted and completely burned away. The only memory of the natural artifact is the silver base which was later gold plated. The contrast between and transition from natural into industrial or soft into hard brings forth the contemporary struggles between past and present. For the better or worse, there is always something lost along the way.
